I, Jepster Togle, am a freelance graphic artist and 3D Animator based in the Philippines.  Currently, I am also a part-time college instructor in Southville International School teaching subjects in Media Arts. Most of my works have won awards in contests and have been recognized as top quality work by my clients. My medium of specialization is in 3D Animation but I have been familiar and knowledgeable in other fields like Print, Video and recently Visual Effects.

The Story

My full name is Perfecto Gregor S. Togle (quite long isn’t it?). It’s a really long story on how I came to be known as “Jepster” but I’ll save you the trouble of listening to a long story and say it all started with my older brother then ended with the world wide web.

During my elementary days, I have been very fond of reading comic books and admiring the detail in the artworks most of them contain. The aesthetic side of comic books has always appealed to me that I started drawing and tried my best to be like my favorite comic book artist, Jim Lee.

As I entered High School, I was introduced to computer graphics using only Microsoft Office Powerpoint. I was very fond of doing animated presentations that I even used them as “Credit Rolls” in our video projects. A few years later, I was introduced to videogames which awakened my love for computer graphics to its greatest potential. We were also taught web design which developed my enthusiasm for design as a whole.

My first choice for College was Computer Science. Gladly, I wasn’t able to achieve the quota for Computer Science courses in most universities and I landed as a student of Multimedia Arts in DLSU-College of Saint Benilde. Web Design was the most interesting medium I studied but that was until I was introduced to Video Editing.

At the age of 17, I was commissioned to do video projects for other students from different schools. Ranging from video presentations to thesis videos, these projects still left me wanting more. A year later, 3D Animation was introduced to me as part of our curriculum.

I fell in love with 3D Animation  never letting it go up to now. Ranging from videogame models and FMVs (Full Motion Videos), I have experienced most of what 3D Animation has to offer. Most of all, I have incorporated 3D Animation into live video to create visual effects.

I have been working in the industry since 2004, started out as a freelance artist for Anino Entertainment, the premiere videogame developer company in the Philippines. After doing freelance projects and working for a Billboard Company, my last regular job was the one I had in Makati, Bluefrog Mobile Incorporated. I was put in charge of making 3D Animated content for mobile phones and later on ended up leading a team of animators for mobile content.

During my stay at Bluefrog, I was also given the opportunity to lead a team  to produce an animated commercial for a mobile service. Sadly, after a year, Bluefrog Mobile shut down its offices in the Philippines but we were given great compensation for our services as employees.

Eversince, I’ve gone into freelancing but it wasn’t enough to keep me satisfied financially. So, I was recommended by a friend to teach at a school she enrolled in and that’s where I’ve been working until now as a part time College Instructor. Teaching has taught me the virtue of patience. Also, it has given me the opportunity to further enhance my studies and experiments in the field. Since I took teaching as a part time job, I have made myself available for more freelance work.

Currently, I’ve been introduced to the video coverage industry, most primarily wedding videos. I’ve seen the amount of hard work poured into making a wedding video, and as hard as it may seem, it is a pretty exciting process. It’s like making a short film or music video and I believe getting into this industry will improve my cinematography skills which will aid me in the future when I start making actual films.

My greatest dream would be to direct my own film that incorporates a great story along with great visuals using 3D Animation and visual effects.
