Harmony.
Rock music has been one of the genres of music that is least related to this word. Harmony, a pleasant blending of musical instruments to form a musical piece, has been often related to classical music. Beethoven and Mozart are one of the few names that would come to mind when you speak of harmony. Seldom do you hear people say that Ozzy Osbourne is the pioneer of harmonious music. In fact, harmony is so hard to come by in the age of Pop, Punk, and Hip-hop music. It seems that harmony has taken a backseat as a part of music composition. These days, a strum of the guitar and the blending of the Jonas Brothers’ voices are already considered as “harmony” by others.
Kaze’s EP, No Reason, is harmony in its rarest form. Never have I heard rock music sound so beautiful to the point that I start waving my hands like I’m conducting an orchestra. The blending of the electric guitars, the keyboards, the voices and of course the violin makes Kaze one of the rarest bands to ever pull it off without sounding like a punk band trying to add “heart” to their music by just adding a violin interlude. Kaze’s blending is so phenomenal that there’s not a single note lost in place. Never will you skip a track because each track in their EP is unique and has its own sense of style.
The EP starts of with the song “7 shots” which is a good start to get the interest of the listener and features the amazing vocal capabilities of Faye, their lead vocalist. Wallflower Boy, the second track features a great intro guitar riff that makes you want to wake up out of bed and walk around your neighborhood smiling. The third track, Beyond the Clouds is one of the sweetes songs in the EP that truly send your heart racing to the sky on a beautiful Sunday morning. The Name Game, one of the most upbeat tracks has a really great drum beat. Rain, a purely harmonious and amazing piece of music makes you truly feel like you’re listening to the drops of the rain. Marionette, my personal favorite, gives out this great vibe of darkness without being annoyingly depressing but gives the audience that feeling of strength. The bonus track, Pseudo Utopia sounds promising even if it was a live recording.
Overall, Kaze is a band to watch out for. Just by listening to their CD, you know that they play for the music and not just for the fame. Seldom do I find people in the music business that I can truly call “artists”. Kaze are artists with pure dedication to create amazing music. If you’re looking for something new to listen to, Kaze is surely very new yet so familiar that you tend to miss listening to music like this.
