Macross has been one of the biggest Anime franchises and so far, the last time I saw a Macross related Anime was when I was a kid. In fact, that was the first I felt a fever. I didn’t get sick because it was bad (I actually watch anything on TV back then), I just got sick of overwatching, or so I was told.
That Macross “fever” has returned in me and I can say, I’m loving every aspect of it. Macross Frontier is absolutely stunning with great CGI and amazing animation. The music and the audio will never disappoint since “song” seems to be the focus of the entire series.
With only 25 episodes, Macross Frontier managed to tell an interesting story without putting too much information into new viewers of the franchise like me. The story evolves around Alto, a student of Mihoshi Academy located inside the Macross Frontier, a space colony of mixed races looking for a planet where they could live in. The colony was attacked by a violent alien race called the Vajra and that’s where the whole story starts. The rest is a thrill ride of action, romance, and music.
Aside from Alto, another character named Sheryl Nome is the one to watch out for. Without Sheryl, this series would probably end up dull and lifeless. Sheryl’s attitude is extremely entertaining and her transformation throughout the series is inspiring and uplifting. Her songs are truly enchanting mixed up with extremely alluring visuals.
Macross Frontier is unforgettable, entertaining, inspiring and extremely a series you can watch over and over again. Truly a classic deserving to be part of an extremely popular franchise.
Macross Frontier gets 5 out of 5 stars.
