Well, my website actually.

Finally, after months of conceptualization and development I have finally finished this website to be ready for viewing. In the blog post below, you’ll see the story of how this website came to life and the design obstacles it went through. Some sections like the “Stuff” section will be improved in the future as I go to create more templates for everyone.

This website has been in planning for months and finally, due to boredom and the heat of the summer sun, I finally got the courage to develop it on my own. The design has been in development and what you see here was a last minute design. The previous designs in my opinion were seriously overdone and this new design seemed to have put all my sketching sessions to waste. Sometimes, the last thing you could think of for a project (even when it’s already done) is the last minute idea based on all of your ideas in the past.

Just to let you know, I’m not a web developer and if you look closely at my website, it’s running on the WordPress engine. So far, it’s been a blast editing only a few elements just to launch this website. Well, I guess “few” is an understatement. But compared to actual webmasters, the “development” I did for this website is a whole lot simpler. In fact, it felt like editing a social networking site theme. Thanks to WordPress and my brother who’s a webmaster, I can finally publish my works online.

Here’s a sketch of the initial design that I made for this website:

Anyway, here’s the explanation behind the design. On the left are images of floral vector art and mountains along with the sun in the background. This portrays that sense of nature. As you can see in the far left of the design, there are some gears. This was meant to show that technology is slowly mixing up with organic elements. On the other side is vice versa. The organic flowers grow out from technological materials like wires, metal pipes, and gears. In between is a person seemingly floating and using his power to balance both sides. The sketch looked so good on paper. The bad news is, it didn’t work out well when I designed it using computer graphics.

At first, I liked how it turned out. But slowly, day by day, I was starting to loathe it. It seemed overdone and the execution of the technological aspect of this design didn’t turn out the way I wanted it to. Also, the design seemed so top heavy that if you went to the site with that, you’d see less content since the entire page is covered up with just the design. The goal of this website, aside from showcasing my work, is to inform the world (well, the “World Wide Web”) that I exist.

I was actually satisfied with this design. So, one day, I decided to publish it online. And since I’m not a webmaster, I had no idea how to publish my design. So, I took a look again at my design and decided to only use two elements from it. The Logo and the mountain which is now in 3D instead of a forced attempt of converting 3D into Vector Art. Using only those two elements together created quite a pale header. So, I decided to reuse my “Technology versus Nature” theme but instead of using intensely colorful graphics, I just used silhouette’s and tech type vector graphics. I’m proud of these new decisions and I even made the buttons a lot more simpler than the initial design.

So, that’s it. That’s how my website came to be. Now, if you’re wondering what you’ll be expecting here, let me me try and explain each section. Well, in the “About” Section, more information about me will be included aside from what I do. So it’s more of a “who I am” section of this website. The “Stuff” section will showcase a bunch of royalty free templates ranging from graphic design to motion graphic backgrounds for fellow designers and graphic artists to incorporate into their work. “Works” will feature both commissioned and non-commissioned works of mine ranging from graphic design, video and 3D Animation. And lastly, if there’s a section that includes information on how to contact me, that would be the “Contact” section.

Thanks for visiting my site and I hope you come back again soon!
